How to get your Panama pension statement

How to retrieve your own official pension record from Panama, step by step.
This is free — you can do it yourself

There is no charge for your own pension record. The guide below just makes it faster. PensionChart never asks for your portal login, and never contacts an authority on your behalf.

What you're asking for

Historial de cuotas (CSS)

Known in English as the Contribution history. Look for this name on the site — it may not be translated.

Caja de Seguro Social (CSS)

Before you start
  • Your Panamanian cédula number, or the passport used when you were registered.
  • Your employers and dates.
  • An email address you can use for correspondence — CSS accepts applications from abroad by email, which is unusually straightforward.
Steps
  1. Start at the CSS
The Caja de Seguro Social administers Panama's contributory pension system.
    Open this page ↗
  2. Request your contribution history
The record shows the quotas (cuotas) paid on your behalf. Panamanian eligibility depends on the number of quotas as well as age.
  3. If you are abroad, use the email route
CSS accepts completed pension application forms by email from claimants outside Panama, which avoids the in-person requirement other countries in the region impose.
  4. Check which regime applies
Panama reformed its system and runs both a defined-benefit and a mixed component depending on when you entered. Ask CSS which applies to your contribution history.
  5. Save the record
Keep the statement and the reference of any request you file.
If it doesn't work
CSS has no record under the identity you gave
Foreign workers were often registered under a passport number. Provide every identifier you used, and the employer's name, so the file can be matched.
Your employer did not pay the quotas
Deductions without payment are recoverable through CSS, but need evidence: payslips showing the deduction are the starting point.
You cannot get a reply by email
Panamanian consulates can forward documents and confirm identity, and a representative in Panama can attend a regional office in person.
What we couldn't confirm

The current CSS email address for applications from abroad, and whether the contribution history can be requested online.

Once you have it

Upload the statement to your vault and we'll read the figures out of it — balances, benefits, vesting and retirement ages — and tell you what changed since your last one.
